I've never played Mahjong before. Can I really learn?
Absolutely. My Beginner Series is designed for people who have never touched a tile. I break everything down step by step — the tiles, the card, the rules, and the Charleston — with plenty of guided practice so you leave confident.
What should I bring to class?
Just yourself and a willingness to learn. I provide the tiles, tables, teaching materials, and a National Mah Jongg League card for use during class.
Do I need my own Mahjong set?
Nope. I provide sets for all classes and events. If you fall in love with the game and want your own, check out my affiliate discounts below.
How long is the Beginner Series?
The series is typically two sessions. We cover the basics in the first class and spend the second class building confidence through guided play. You'll be ready to join a game by the end.
What's the difference between Guided Play, Open Play, and League Play?
Guided Play is for newer players who know the basics but want support at the table. Open Play is a relaxed social game for confident players. League Play is a season of friendly competition with weekly and grand prizes.
Where are classes and events held?
Beginner classes are held at my home in Franklin, WeBreathe Wellness in Walpole, and private venues. Open Play meets at Cape Cod Winery in Falmouth and other local establishments in Franklin, Falmouth, and nearby towns. Each event listing on Linktree shows the exact location.
Can you teach a private group or host an event?
Yes! I love private events — birthdays, team building, fundraisers, or just a fun night with friends. I bring the tiles and the teaching. Email me at mahjwithsue@gmail.com and we'll work out the details.
